Procedure

(8-Methyl-4-oxo-4,5-dihydro-pyrazolo[4,3-c]quinolin-1-yl)-acetic acid ethyl ester m (285 mg, 1 mmol), methyl iodide (142 mg, 1 mmol) and Cs2CO3 (650 mg, 2 mmol) were combined in dry DMF (4 mL) and the resultant mixture was heated at 40° C. for 8 h. The reaction mixture was cooled, diluted with water and extracted with ethyl acetate (2×20 mL) and the combined organic extract was dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated in vacuo. The crude residue was purified by column chromatography to provide the desired compound n (80% yield): LC MS (Method B): 300 (M+1).
