Procedure
To a solution of Example 55A (4.8 g, 11.3 mmol) in anhydrous methanol (10 mL) a solution of 4 M HCl in dioxane (22.5 mL, 90 mmol) was slowly added via addition funnel at 0° C. over 30 minutes. The mixture was stirred for 4 hours at room temperature and concentrated under reduced pressure to provide a yellow oil. The oil was dissolved in water, frozen, and lyophilized to provide a white power as the titled product. MS (ESI) m/e 327 (M+H)+, 325 (M−H)−; 1H NMR (500 MHz, CD3OD) δ ppm 1.80 (m, 1 H), 2.74 (m, 1 H), 2.84 (m, 1 H), 3.09 (m, 1H), 3.16 (t, 1 H), 3.24 (m, 1 H), 3.52 (dd, 2 H), 3.55 (m, 1 H), 3.74 (m, 1 H), 3.88 (m, 1 H), 4.51 (m, 1 H), 4.65 (d, 1 H), 4.70 (d, 1 H), 8.33 (s, 1 H) 9.11 (s, 1 H).
