Procedure

To a mixture of 4.13 g of the material from Step A and 0.25 g of 10% palladium on carbon was added 150 mL of ethanol. The reaction mixture was stirred under a balloon of hydrogen for three days. The mixture was filtered through celite and the solvent was removed with a rotary evaporator to afford 3.65 g of the title compound as a brown oil.
