A solution of 1 g of 2-chloro-5-(5H-pyrrolo[2,1-c][1,4]benzodiazepin-10(11H)-ylcarbonyl)benzenesulfonamide of Step A in 20 mL of morpholine was heated for 20 hours under reflux. The reaction solution was allowed to cool to room temperature and poured into 50 mL of water with stirring. The precipitate was collected and washed with an additional 50 mL of water and dried to provide the title compound (0.8 g), m.p. 242-245° C. dec
