Procedure

0.11 g ethyl 4-hydroxy-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-6-(4-(quinolin-2-ylmethyloxy)benzyloxy)-2,3-dihydrobenzoxazole-2-carboxylate and 0.78 g sodium bicarbonate are combined in 7 ml of water and 7 ml of ethanol and refluxed overnight. The mixture is extracted with ether and the aqueous neutralized to pH6. The resulting solid is collected, dried to give 4-hydroxy-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-6-(4-(quinolin-2-ylmethyloxy)benzyloxy)-2,3-dihydrobenzoxazole-2-carboxylic acid.
