Procedure
To a solution of 0.01 mole of 4-(α,α,α-trifluoro-m-tolyl)imidazo[1,5-a]pyrimidine in chloroform is added 0.011 mole of N-chlorosuccinimide. The mixture is heated on a steam bath for one hour, cooled and poured into an ice-cold solution of 2.5 N sodium hydroxide. The organic layer is separated, dried (MgSO4) and passed through a column of hydrous magnesium silicate with chloroform as eluent. The eluent is concentrated to dryness to give the product of the example.
