To 2.4 g. (0.006 mole) of 5-chloro-7,8-dihydro-8-(2-methoxyethyl)-7-oxo-2-phenyl-pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6-carboxylic acid ethyl ester in 100 ml. of ethanol was added 0.45 g. (0.006 mole) of 2-methoxyethylamine and 0.65 g. (0.006 mole) of Na2CO3. This mixture was refluxed 3 hours, then filtered and the filtrate chilled. A solid formed amd was filtered off and rinsed with petroleum ether--m.p. 160°-163° C. No further purification was necessary.
