Procedure

To a stirred suspension of 0.12 mmol 5-chloro-6-pyrrolidin-1-yl-1,3-dihydro-isoindole-2-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester in 1 ml dioxane was added 1.86 mmol hydrogen chloride solution (4 M in dioxane) and the mixture was stirred at 90° C. for 2 h. The reaction mixture was then concentrated in vacuo to yield the title compound as a brown solid which was used in the next step without further purification. MS (m/e): 325.2 ({37Cl}M+H+, 35%), 323.2 ({35Cl}M+H+, 100%).
