Procedure

0.02 mol of 6-(4-methoxybenzoyl)benzothiazolinone obtained in Example 30 are placed in a mixture of 15 cc of 47% hydrobromic acid and 15 cc of acetic acid. The mixture is refluxed with agitation for 72 hours. It is allowed to cool and the product is drained, dried, washed with water, and recrystallized from alcohol at 95° C.
