Procedure

23.5 mg of L-N-[(2R or S)-5-ethylthio-2-(1-naphthylmethyl)pentanoyl]norleucine tert-butyl ester was dissolved in 0.2 ml of dichloromethane, and 0.1 ml of trifluoro acetic acid was added thereto. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for four hours. Then, the reaction solution was concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain 20.7 mg of L-N-[(2R or S)-5-ethylthio-2-(1-naphthylmethyl)pentanoyl]norleucine as colorless solid.
