The compounds of Formula (5) that are pyrazolopyrimidines of the structure ##STR38## where E is CR1 and X is NH2, Scheme 12, can be synthesized from the corresponding 4-hydroxypyrazolopyrimidine of Formula (25) and phosphoryl chloride to give the corresponding 4-chloropyrazolopyrimidine of Formula (27) which is then treated with ammonia to give compounds of Formula (28). ##STR39##
