In a 200 mL roundbottom flask, compound 1 (200 mg, 0.46 mmol) was dissolved in 40 mL isopropyl alcohol. The solution was stirred and vortexed at room temperature until it became homogeneous. A 7% (w/w) solution of ammonium chloride in water (20 mL, 26 mmol)) was then added dropwise to the stirring solution. The stirring was stopped and the solution was permitted to stand at room temperature for 20 h. White crystals formed. The crystals were collected on a Büchner funnel, washed with 1:1 isopropanol:water (3 mL), and dried for 30 minutes. The crystals were collected to yield the monohydrochloride salt of compound 1 (27 mg, 12% yield).
