A solution of 2,2,2-trichloroethyl (3,4-dimethylisoxazol-5-yl)carbamate (200 mg, 1.02 mmol), 4-(4-phenyl-1,3-thiazol-2-yl)piperidine (250 mg, 1.02 mmol) and diisopropylethylamine (0.357 ml, 2.05 mmol) in dimethylsulfoxide (4 ml) was stirred at 70° C. for 12 hours, the reaction mixture was poured into water and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with water and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (ethyl acetate) to obtain the desired product as a solid. This was recrystallized from a mixed solvent of tetrahydrofuran, ethyl acetate and hexane to obtain the desired product (201 mg, 51.5%) as a solid. mp 156-157° C.
