Procedure

Compound 13 (24 mg) was dissolved in THF (1 mL) and KOtBu (1 M in THF, 82 μL) was added. The mixture was stirred for 1 hr, followed by addition of methyl iodide (5.1 μL). The stirring was continued for additional 1 hr, then the solution was concentrated and the residue was purified by flash chromatography [silica gel, EtOAc] to afford 16 mg (82%) of the desired product. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 8.65 (d, 1 H), 8.32 (d, 1 H), 8.13 (d, 1 H), 7.75 (s, 1 H), 7.15 (dd, 1 H), 6.71 (d, 1 H), 5.0 (m, 1 H), 3.90 (s, 3 H), 3.88 (m, 1 H), 2.10 (m, 2 H), 1.70 (m, 2 H), 1.60 (m, 2 H), 1.40 (m, 2 H), 1.20 (m, 2 H). MS (ESI) m/z: 308 (M+H)+.
