Reaction Steps
A mixture of 2.68 g (12.8 mmol) of 1-fluoro-4-methyl-2-(2,2,2-trifluoro-ethoxy)-benzene, 2.3 g (12.9 mmol) of NBS and 140 mg of dibenzoylperoxide in 60 ml of CCl4 was refluxed for 6 hours. Solvent was removed and the crude residue was used without any further purification for the next step.
