In a manner similar to the preparation of N2,N4-bis(3-hydroxyphenyl)-5-fluoro-2,4-pyrimidinediamine, 2,4-dichloro-5-cyanopyrimidine and 3-hydroxyaniline were reacted to yield N2,N4-bis(3-hydroxyphenyl-5-cyano-2,4-pyrimidinediamine. 1H NMR (DMSO-d6): δ 9.73 (bs, 1H), 9.40 (s, 1H), 9.33 (bs, 1H), 9.24 (s, 1H), 8.47 (s, 1H), 7.20 (d, 1H, J=7.5 Hz), 7.11 (t, 1H, J=7.5 Hz), 7.09–7.02 (m, 2H), 6.99–6.89 (m, 3H), 6.54 (d, 1H, J=7.2 Hz), 6.37 (dd, 1H, J=1.8 and 8.4 Hz); LCMS: ret. time: 19.71 min.; purity: 97%; MS (m/e): 320 (MH+).
