A method similar to that used for the preparation of (107a) was used except that methyl-L-methionine hydrochloride (214 mg) was used instead of methyl-L-valinate hydrochloride to afford the desired product (300 mg). 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 1.178 (t, 3H, J=7 Hz), 1.93 (m, 2H), 2.02 (s, 3H), 2.51 (m, 2H), 3.53 (s, 2H), 4.38 (m, 1H), 7.07 (m, 3H), 8.54 (d, 1H, J=8 Hz).
