Procedure

A suspension of 4-(3,5-dichloro-pyridin-4-ylmethyl)-7-methoxy-phthalazin-1-carboxylic acid methyl ester (3.9 g, 10.3 mmoles), prepared as described in example 102, in DMF/CH3OH (30/50 ml) under N2 was portionwise added with NaBH (1.17 g, 30.9 mmoles) in 1.5 hours. The stirring went on for 2.5 hours. The mixture was cooled on ice and added with concentrated HCl up to pH<1, then dried, taken up in water and extracted three times with CH2Cl2, the organic phase was anhydrified and dried to give 3.5 g of the title compound (yield: 97%). m.p.: 190-195° C.
