Combine N,N′-diphenethyl-2-(t-butoxycarbonylamino)malonamide (0.425 g, 1.00 mmol) and dichloromethane (7 mL). Add trifluoroacetic acid (1.5 mL). After 2.5 hours, evaporate in vacuo to give a residue. Repeatedly, add carbon tetrachloride to co-evaporate residual trifluoroacetic acid and evaporate in vacuo to give the title compound.
