Experimental conditions analogous to those described for Step 5 of Example 60, from crude 1-(6-Methyl-pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-4-oxo-1,4-dihydro-quinoline-3-carboxylic acid, 1.27 g (12.7 mmol) of N,O-dimethylhydroxylamine hydrochloride, 9 mL (6.5 g, 64.7 mmol) of triethylamine and 9.2 mL (9.83 g, 15.5 mmol) of 50% 1-propanephosphonic acid cyclic anhydride in 50 mL acetonitrile to give 2.30 g of the product as an off-white solid.
