This compound was prepared in90% yield from 2-chloro-4-[1-hydroxy-3-(3-hydroxyphenyl)propyl]benzoic acid, methyl ester (Example 19) by the procedure described for 2-chloro-4-[1-oxo-3-(3-hydroxyphenyl)propyl]benzoic acid (Example 41). The product was a racemic mixture and was not resolved.
