To a solution of tert-butyl 4-(6-fluoro-1-(phenylsulfonyl)-1H-indol-3-yl)-1H-pyrazole-1-carboxylate (Intermediate 4; 310 mg; 0.70 mmol) in methanol (2 mL) was added saturated HCl in Et2O (10 mL). The resulting mixture was stirred for 30 minutes. The reaction was concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure, diluted with water (10 mL), neutralized with saturated aqueous NaHCO3, and extracted with EtOAc (10 mL×3). The combined organic layers were washed with brine (5 mL), dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated to afford 234 mg (89%) of the title compound as a yellow solid.
