A mixture of tert-butyl ((2S)-1-((4-chloro-5-nitropyridin-2-yl)oxy)propan-2-yl)carbamate (4.83 g), cesium acetate (6.99 g) and DMF (40 mL) was stirred at 80° C. for 1 hr. The mixture was allowed to cool to room temperature, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was diluted with ethyl acetate and water, and the organic layer was separated. The organic layer was washed with saturated brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (3.84 g).
