N-{1-[5-(5,5-dimethyl-1,3-dioxan-2-yl)thiophen-3-yl]-2-hydroxyethyl}-N-(3-methylbutyl)benzenesulfonamide was dissolved in 10 mL AcOH/water (4:1) and stirred for 5 hours. 5 mL of water was and the aqueous layer was extracted 2× with EtOAc. The EtOAc layers were combined, washed 3 times with water, once with brine and dried (MgSO4). The residue was purified on silica gel (EtOAc/hexanes).
