2.9 ml of 2N sodium hydroxide are added to a solution of 800 mg of (5-fluoro-4-morpholin-4-yl-6-oxo-1,6-dihydropyrimidin-2-yl)acetic acid ethyl ester in 10 ml of THF. The reaction medium is stirred at ambient temperature for 24 hours. The reaction medium is concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue obtained is oven-dried under vacuum in the presence of P2O5, so as to give 780 mg of sodium (5-fluoro-4-morpholin-4-yl-6-oxo-1,6-dihydropyrimidin-2-yl)acetate, the characteristics of which are the following:
