Procedure

To a solution of 220 (3.5 g, 9.8 mmol) and DCM (10 mL) was added 4N HCl in dioxane (17 mL, 68 mmol) and the reaction stirred for 30 min at RT. Et2O was added, and the reaction stirred for 10 min and filtered, washed with ether and dried to afford 2.5 g (88%) of (R)-1-(3-chloro-4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl)propan-1-amine hydrochloride (222) as a white solid.
