NaOH (10 N, 7 mL) is added to a solution of 5-benzyl-1,3-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid methyl ester (680 mg, 2.78 mmol) in MeOH (10 mL) at RT. The mixture is heated to 50° C. for 4 h. The solvent is removed to dryness. H2O is added and pH is adjusted to 5 using aq. HCl. The solid is filtered and dried to give the title compound.
