To a solution of N-{6-{2-(5-aminopyridin-2-yloxy)ethoxy}-5-(4-methylphenyl)pyrimidin-4-yl}-4-tert-butylbenzenesulfonamide (150 mg) in pyridine (2 ml) is added a solution of benzoyl chloride (43 mg) in methylene chloride (0.4 ml), and the mixture is stirred at room temperature for two hours. To the reaction solution is added 10% hydrochloric acid, and the mixture is extracted with ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate layer is washed, dried and evaporated to remove the solvent. The residue is recrystallized from ethyl acetate/n-hexane to give N-(6-[2-{6-(4-tert-butylphenylsulfonylamino)-5-(4-methylphenyl)pyrimidin-4-yloxy}ethoxy]pyridin-3-yl)benzamide (161 mg) as crystals.
