Reaction Steps
A mixture of 3.0 g (13.3 mmol) of methyl (2R)-2-[(3-nitro-2-pyridyl)oxy]propanoate and 5.0 ml 4 mol/l aq. NaOH solution in methanol are stirred at RT for 30 min. 5.0 ml 4 mol/l aq. HCl are added and the reaction mixture concentrated. The precipitate is filtered off, dissolved in DCM, dried and evaporated yielding (2R)-2-[(3-nitro-2-pyridyl)oxy]propanoic acid.
