Reaction Steps
10 g 4,6-dichloro-2-methyl-5-(1-acetyl-2-imidazolin-2-yl)-aminopyrimidine are mixed with a solution of 3.78 g sodium methylate in 35 ml methanol and boiled for 2 hours. Then 100 ml water are added, cooled, and vacuum dried. 7.2 g of 4-chloro-6-methoxy-2-methyl-5-(2-imidazolin-2-yl)-aminopyrimidine is obtained. (Melting point 217°-219° C., decomposition) from nitromethane.
