To a suspension of 8-[2,6-dichloro-3-(N-phthalimidoacetyl-N-methylamino)benzyloxy]-4-(imidazol-1-yl)-2-methylquinoline (1.91 g) in ethanol (19 ml) was added hydrazine monohydrate (318 mg), and the mixture was refluxed for 1 hour. After cooling, the resulting precipitates was filtered off. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo, and the residue was dissolved in chloroform. Insoluble material was filtered off, and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was pulverized with diisopropyl ether to give 8-[3-(N-glycyl-N-methylamino)-2,6-dichlorobenzyloxy]-4-(imidazol-1-yl)-2-methylquinoline (1.5 g) as colorless amorphous.
