Procedure
Using procedure 49, 2-(dipropylamino)-2,3-dihydro-1H-indene-5,6-dicarboxylate (92, 0.35 g, 1.0 mmol) was treated with 4-(aminomethyl)benzamide (0.26 g, 1.4 mmol). Purification using silica gel, eluting with 19:1 CH2Cl2 /MeOH, afforded an oil that was converted to an HCl salt and recrystallized from hot MeOH to give 111 as a white solid (m.p. 294° C.).
