The derivative 3,3-dimethyl-benzisoselenazoline BXT-51056 (212 mg; 1 mmole) was dissolved at room temperature in methanol (5 ml) with stirring. After addition of 5% hydrogen peroxide (600 μl; 1.05 mmole), stirring was continued for 15 min. The solvent was evaporated off under reduced pressure. The residue was taken up in 25 ml of dichloromethane and washed with 3×3 ml of a saturated NaCl solution, dried over Na2SO4 then filtered. After evaporation of the solvent under reduced pressure, the desired product was obtained in the form of yellowish crystals.
