N,N-Dimethylformamide (1 ml) was added to 7-(2-chloro-ethoxy)-6-methoxy-4-(2-methyl-quinolin-3-yloxy)-quinoline (compound 353) (50 mg), potassium carbonate (53 mg), and 4,4-dimethylpiperidine-2,6-dione (54 mg), and the mixture was stirred at 80° C. overnight and then at 100° C. for one day. The reaction solution was cooled to room temperature, water was added to the reaction solution, and the mixture was extracted with chloroform. The chloroform layer was washed with water and was then dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was removed by distillation under the reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by thin layer chromatography using chloroform-methanol to give the title compound (3.5 mg, yield 5%).
