Reaction Steps

A mixture of 4'-acetamido-2-hydroxyiminopropiophenone (1.87 g), thiosemicarbazide (1 g), methanol (15 ml), water (3 ml) and acetic acid (0.1 ml) was refluxed with stirring for 39 hours and then cooled. The resulting precipitate was collected by filtration, washed with methanol and dried to give 4'-acetamido-2-hydroxyiminopropiophenone thiosemicarbazone (1.7 g).
