The 5-chloro-2-{3-[4-(2-methoxyphenyl)piperazin-1-yl]propylamino}-N,N-dimethylnicotinamide (0.188 g, 0.435 mmol) was dissolved in methylene chloride and the solution was treated with excess hydrochloric acid in methanol and concentrated to dryness. The residue was triturated with diethyl ether and then dried to give 5-chloro-2-{3-[4-(2-methoxyphenyl)piperazin-1-yl]propyl-amino}-N,N-dimethylnicotinamide hydrochloride (0.18 g, 0.33 mmol), Anal.: Calcd. for C22H30ClN5O2.(HCl)3.(C4H8O)0.3 : C, 49.08; H, 6.28; N, 12.33%; Found: C, 48.70H, 6.46; N, 11.93%.
