15.2 g (0.038 mol) of 2-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-4,6-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,3,5-triazine of the formula (108b), 5.2 g of potassium carbonate and 50 mg of potassium iodide are heated at 110 C. in 100 ml of 2-ethoxyethanol for 45 minutes, and then 6.9 g (0.042 mol) of 1-bromohexane are added dropwise over the course of 15 minutes. The mixture is stirred at 110 C. for 12 hours, cooled to 0 C. and filtered. The solid material is washed neutral with water, then washed with methanol and dried. Recrystallization from 2-ethoxyethanol gives the pure, light-yellow product of the formula ##STR23##
