To a mixture of 4,4-bis(4-(2-quinolylmethoxy)phenyl)cyclohexanol (resulting from Example 4) (1.13 g, 2 mmol) and molecular sieves (3 g) in CH2 Cl2 (40 mL) was added PCC (0.65 g, 3 mmol) and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 min. The mixture was filtered through the Celite, the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to 10 mL and then chromatographed (silica gel, 4:1 CH2Cl2 /EtOAc) to afford 0.25 g of 4,4-bis(4-(2-quinolylmethoxy) phenyl)cyclohexanone.
