Procedure
In 30 ml of dry pyridine, 2.82 g of 1-tetradecyl-sn-glycerol is allowed to react 3.27 g of triphenylchloromethane to give 1-tetradecyl-3-trityl-sn-glycerol. This compound is subjected to methylation with methyl iodide and deprotection to give 2 g of 1-tetradecyl-2-methyl-sn-glycerol.
