Procedure
4-[[4-chloro-3-[[(2-tricyclo[3.3.1.13,7]dec-1-ylethyl)amino]carbonyl]phenyl]methyl]-1-piperazinecarboxylic acid, 1,1-dimethylethyl ester, (Example 18b, 0.270 g) was dissolved in methanol (3 ml), 4N HCl in dioxane (2 ml) was added and the mixture stirred for 14 h at room temperature. The solvent was removed under vacuum and the resulting solid was triturated with ether to afford the title compound as a white powder (0.207 g).
