Procedure
Following General Procedure D and using 3-cyclohexylalanine methyl ester (prepared from β-cyclohexylalanine (Bachem) using General Procedure K) and N-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-D,L-alanine, the title compound, as a mixture of diastereomers about alanine, was prepared as an oil. The reaction was monitored by tlc (Rf=0.27 (second isomer) and 0.30 (first isomer) in 35% EtOAc/hexanes) and purification was by flash chromatography (35% EtOAc/hexanes).
