Procedure
A mixture of 0.5 g of 8-methyl-6-(tetrahydro-pyran-2-yloxy)-8-aza-bicyclo[3.2.1]octan-3-one, 1 mL of ethyl chloroformate, 25 mg of potassium carbonate, and 10 mL of toluene was heated to reflux overnight. After cooling the mixture was diluted with 500 mL of ether and 50 mL of 3N NaOH and stirred for 2 hours. The organic layer was dried over MgSO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure. Drying under vacuum gave 0.60 g of the ethyl carbamate.
