A solution of {1-[3-(cis-2,6-dimethylmorpholin-4-yl)phenyl]-ethyl}carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (2.12 g, 6.35 mmol), and hydrochloric acid (1.0M solution in diethyl ether) (15.9 mmol, 2.5eq) in methanol (5 ml) was stirred at room temperature overnight. Concentrated under vacuum and 2 g of hydrochloric acid salt of (S)-1-[3-(cis-2,6-dimethylmorpholin-4-yl)phenyl]-ethylamine was obtained as yellow solid (quantitative yield).
