A mixture of Example 248A (262 mg; 1.4 mmol) in 10% H2SO4 (4 mL) was treated with NaNO2 (120 mg; 1.7 mmol) in water (1 mL), stirred for 30 min., diluted with water, and extracted with EtOAc. The extracts were rinsed with brine, dried (Na2SO4), concentrated and purified by flash chromatography (5% MeOH/CH2Cl2) to provide the desired product.
