Ammonium fumarate → L-Aspartic Acid
Participants
| Role | Name | HCID | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reactant | Ammonium fumarate | HCID 9793847 | — |
| Solvent | Magnesium Chloride | HCID 5360315 | — |
| Product | L-Aspartic Acid | HCID 5960 | — |
Reaction Steps
The immobilized Escherichia coli prepared in the above (1) (61 g) was packed in a jacketed column (4 cm×8 cm) and incubated at 37° C. for 48 hours to activate the immobilized cells (aspartase activity: 1980 m moles/hr). After activation, 1 M ammonium fumarate solution containing 1 mM magnesium chloride (pH 8.5, 1,000 ml) was passed through the column at 37° C. at the flow rate of 50 ml/hr. The effluent was adjusted to pH 2.8 to precipitate crystals and the crystals were filtered off to give L-aspartic acid (128 g).
