15.2 g (0.038 mol) of 2-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-4,6-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,3,5-triazine of the formula (108b), 5.2 g of potassium carbonate and 50 mg of potassium iodide are heated in 100 ml of 2-ethoxyethanol at 110° C. for 45 minutes, followed by dropwise addition of 6.9 g (0.042 mol) of 1-bromohexane over a period of 15 minutes. The mixture is stirred at 110° C. for 12 hours, cooled to 0° C. and filtered. The solid material is washed neutral with water and then washed with methanol and dried. After recrystallization from 2-ethoxyethanol, the pure light yellow product of the formula ##STR23## is obtained.
