To a solution of 8.0 g of N-[2-[4-(6-fluoro-1,2-benzisoxazol-3-yl)-1-piperidinyl]ethyl]phthalimide in dichloromethane/ethanol (150 ml) was added 1M - HCl in ether. The salt crystallized out rapidly. It was filtered off, washed with ethanol and dried to afford 8.15 g with m.p.=257°-259° C., dec. Recrystallization provided 7.20 g of pure white salt, with m.p. unchanged.
