4.0 g (1.31×10-2 mol) of p-dodecyloxybenzoic acid was dissolved in 15 ml of benzene, and 2.79 g (1.31×10-2 mol) of PCl5 was slowly added thereto under stirring at room temperature. Thereafter, 3 hours of heat-refluxing was effected, followed by distilling-off the solvent to obtain 4.4 g of p-dodecyloxybenzoic acid chloride.
