Procedure
80 mg of 3-[4-(tert-butylaminosulfonyl)phenyl]-1-phenyl-5-(2-pyridyl)-1,2-dihydropyridin-2-one was dissolved in 3 ml of trifluoroacetic acid, followed by heating under reflux for 1 hour. It was left to cool to room temperature, and then the reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate/tetrahydrofuran, and washed with a saturated aqueous solution of sodium hydrogen carbonate and brine. The organic layer was dried over magnesium sulfate, and then evaporated. The resulting crude crystals were washed with ethyl acetate, to give 60 mg of the title compound.
