Procedure

To a solution of 2-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)quinoline-8-carboxylic acid (1.5 g, 4.72 mmol) in THF (50 ml) was added LiAlH4 (0.36 g, 9.46 mmol) in portions at 0° C. The mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight, quenched with water and concentrated to dryness. The residue was diluted with water and extracted with ethylacetate. The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated. Purification by column chromatography (1:10 ethylacetate in pentane) gave the product as a yellow oil (0.69 g, 48% yield).
